And Baby Makes 4!

Camping! June 22, 2012

We took the girls on their first camping trip to High Point State Park in upper north-west New Jersey. We were a little nervous about what it would really mean to have two wee ones in the wilderness, but we thought we’d give it a try.

We got a new, bigger tent, charged up the tablets and hit the road. As it turns out, when you add two people to your camping trip, the amount of stuff you need doubles!

The girls hung out in the back of daddy’s truck until we got the tent up.Image

Kennedy really liked hanging out in the tent. She set up her sleeping bag and her little area all by herself.Image

One of the benefits of camping is that the chilly nights caused the children to sleep really well. Kelsey slept in every morning. Kennedy, on the other hand, was up bright and early. Too early. We made her get in the sleeping bags with us until the hour became more appropriate for waking.Image

The park had a swimming beach not too far from the campsites. We spent the entire Saturday here.Image

This is Kelsey’s second time in water, her first time in a lake. She was perfectly happy to sit and entertain herself in the water.Image

Kennedy loved toasting marshmallows, but who doesn’t?!Image

Kelsey indulged me by snuggling on Sunday morning. I was able to snap this picture before she kicked me to the curb in favor of her sister.Image

We had a great time and look forward to at least one other camping adventure this summer!

Spring Break 2012: Philadelphia June 11, 2012

In Kennedy’s quest to visit an aquarium in each of the 50 states (so far we’ve done New York, Maryland and Oklahoma), we headed south to Camden, New Jersey’s Adventure Aquarium. The aquarium is on the waterfront just across the river from Philadelphia, so we spent a few days exploring Philly with the girls.

After a fun-filled day at the aquarium, we drove across the bridge to Philly and got settled in. Some monumental firsts for Kelsey: first road trip and first stay in a hotel. The girls really enjoyed sleeping together in the same bed!

The next day, we loaded up and headed to the Please Touch Museum. This place is awesome. Everything here is for little kids to touch/try/play on. We underestimated both the size and time commitment, though – 5 hours later, we were finally heading out the door.

I just came across this unfinished draft of a post that I, apparently intended to publish at some point. I have no idea what the motivation was, so I will simply share the pictures. Enjoy!
